Her research interests lie in Information and Network Security, Cognitive Radio Networks and Wireless and Multimedia Networking and Coding. Suba is the Chairs of the Special Interest Group in Multimedia Security, IEEE Technical Committee on Multimedia Communications (MMTC), IEEE COMSOC and also serves as the Secretary of the MMTC. She is a recipient of the Stevens Technogenesis Award for Research Technology Contributions in 2007.

She is an Associate Editor of IS&T/SPIE Journal of Electronic Imaging as well as Hindawi Journal on Advances in Multimedia. She has served as the Program Co-Chair of symposia, the most recent being, the Network Security Symposium of the IEEE International Conference on Computer Communications and Networking, 2007.

Suba is also a Co-founder and the Vice-President of InStream Media LLC.
