Course Grading:

 

    Your grade of this course will be determined on the following distribution:

 

    Homework:                  20%

    Midterm:                      20%

    Final Exam:                  30%

    Term Project:               30%

 

Homework:

 

Homework will be assigned periodically. All problem sets are expected to be completed according to the instructions, and they are usually due in one week. Discussion of homework problems among students is permitted, but each student must finish his/her homework independently. Homework submissions are expected to be in a neat and complete form, showing all major steps towards the solutions.

 

Term Project:

 

The term project is to provide an opportunity for students to investigate a specific topic in the area of data networking. A set of project examples will be presented in September. The projects are to be conducted in groups, each with 2~4 students. Each group will select its topic, and some imaginations are encouraged. Each term project will be concluded with a 5-page report which describes the nature of the project, and a 10-15 min. in-class demo to show the final results.
