Dr. He's primary research interest includes adaptive intelligent systems and its applications in security, energy and power grid, cognitive radio, and related fields. Specifically, his recent research focuses on machine intelligence (e.g., adaptive dynamic programming, hierarchical neural networks, biologically-informed learning and memory organizations, embodied intelligence, self-organizing networks), data mining (e.g., stream data mining, imbalanced learning, semi-supervised learning, spatial data mining, ensemble learning, and time series prediction), and hardware systems design for machine intelligence (e.g., VLSI/FPGA design, prototype and testing).

The long-term objective is to advance the fundamental understandings of general-purpose brain-like  intelligence, develop principled methodologies to potentially replicate certain levels of such intelligence, and demonstrate its wide applications to real-world complex problems to bring this level of intelligence closer to reality. Please visit the Self-Adaptive Intelligent Systems Laboratory (SAIS) for more information.

Dr. He is the Editor/Manager of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) Electronic Letter (E-letter), please contribute your submissions to the community through this link.
