FAQ:
Q: When will next qualifying exam be offered?
A: For the past few years, we typically offer two exams per year, one in the Spring semester and the other in the Fall semester. The frequency of the exam might be changed in the future to once per year. Currently there is no plan for such a change. An announcement will be made from the ECE department office (e-mail) a few months before each qualifying exam.
Q: What courses should I take before selecting the EE subjects (Part II)?
A: EE subjects (Part II) are research subject oriented. The intention is to decouple each subject with individual courses.
Q: What are the typical courses covering each subject?
A: Consult the professor for each subject.
Q: How do I know the coverage for each subject?
A: Look into the textbook(s) specified.
Q: What kind of questions can I expect and can I get copies of past exam papers?
A: You may discuss with the professor for each subject and obtain old exam papers from the department office (Cecilia Jololian).
